Program 03

Let's build something.

Sandbox Projects connect businesses with The Sandbox Foundation's talent network to co-develop prototypes, campaigns, digital tools, and service models. Guided by Sandbox Experts. A testing ground for ideas that might become commercial products or the foundation for your next venture.

Propose a Sandbox Project

Real briefs. Real problems. Real outputs.

Sandbox Projects are structured collaborations. A business or organization brings a problem they haven't had the bandwidth to solve — a prototype they want tested, a campaign they need built, a digital tool that exists only in a spreadsheet. The Sandbox Foundation assembles a team from its talent network, supervised by a Sandbox Expert mentor.

The business gets a working output. The talent gets a real client brief, real feedback, and a portfolio piece they own. The collaboration is deliberate — both sides have skin in the game.

For businesses
A working output in 4–8 weeks. Guided by an expert. Low or no cost.
For talents
A real client brief, real feedback, and a portfolio piece they actually own.

Four types of project.

Projects are scoped to what your organization can actually absorb. We don't build things that sit unused — the output has to fit your next action.

How a Sandbox Project runs.

1
Week 0
Intake
You submit a project brief through the contact form. Describe what you want built, what you've already tried, and what success looks like. No formal document required — a clear problem statement is enough.
2
Week 1
Scoping
The Sandbox Foundation scopes the project with you. We confirm what's buildable in 4–8 weeks, identify the right team from the talent network, and match a Sandbox Expert mentor.
3
Weeks 2–6 (or 2–9)
Build phase
The team builds. Weekly check-ins with the Sandbox Expert mentor. One or two mid-project reviews with you to confirm direction. You don't need to be involved daily — but you should be reachable.
4
Final week
Output and handover
The deliverable is presented to your team. Full handover of files, source materials, and documentation. IP guidance provided — you leave the session knowing exactly what you own and how to use it.
+
Optional
Follow-on development
Some projects become the foundation for a larger initiative. If your output warrants continued development — a second phase, a commercial build, or a grant application — The Sandbox Foundation can advise on next steps.
What you need to bring

A clear problem. Access to decision-makers. Realistic expectations.

Sandbox Projects work when the business is genuinely invested in the output. We need one person on your side who can respond to questions within 24 hours and attend the mid-project reviews. If that's not possible right now, the timing might not be right.

Cost structure: Most Sandbox Projects are low or no cost to the business. In some cases, a nominal co-investment is required — particularly for projects that require external tools, licenses, or materials. This is agreed upfront at the scoping stage. No hidden fees.
